It’s officially June and we are halfway through the year! How did that happen? Honestly, the past few months feel like a blur..

May Review

VIVID Sydney kicked off its 10th anniversary last Friday night. Were you out and about in Sydney enjoying the lights, culture and events celebrating our wondrous city? No worries if you missed opening night as the 23-day festival is on ’til June 16 so there’s plenty of time for you to brave the cold weather to check out what’s happening around our Sydney. Make sure you catch the work of our good friend Jonathan Zawada lighting the sails with his work METAMATHEMAGICAL.’

The Sydney Romantics team and Attaquer recently joined forces to create a retro, flea market inspired, cycling specific streetwear collection and celebrated with a launch party last week in Paddington, hosted by Incu, resulting in a great night with friends, family and new faces.  (https://www.sydneyromantics.com/bulletin/sydney-romantics-x-attaquer-streetwear-collection/)
My month of May was predominantly focused on Australian Fashion Week, but on the live music front, I did manage to catch R&B singer H.E.R’s Australian debut this past Tuesday at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid Sydney, which turned out to be a very special and intimate performance.

June Recommendations

Newtown Chilli Fest
10th June @ Bank Hotel
Newtown’s annual ChilliFest, the brainchild of The Bank Hotel, is back this June long weekend for a second year in a row at its home in the heart of Newtown, on King Street.
They’ll be a hot sauce market, chilli-inspired beers and a chilli eating contest if you’re up for the challenge!

TEDx Sydney
15th June @ ICC
The theme for TEDxSydney this year is HumanKind. An incredible group of speakers and performers have been chosen for the event including Kaiit, Ian Strange, Magda Szubanaki and Eddie Woo, all of whom will inspire you through a day of talks, performances, films and debate focused around the theme.

15th – 17th June @ The Dome, Sydney Showground
Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown who plays the kickass, Eggos-eating hero Eleven, is heading to Sydney in June for the SupaNova Pop Culture Expo.  If you’re a fan of science fiction, fantasy film and all things pop culture, this event is definitely for you. Stephen Amell from Arrow is also confirmed as one of the headlining guests.
